New Mexico Sisters Sue County Over ICE Detainer Procedures

"Two sisters filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against Doña Ana County, alleging the county jail held them illegally for immigration reasons after their mother tried to bond them out.  They're seeking for it to be declared a class-action lawsuit, which would bring more plaintiffs into the case.  Sisters Maria Acahua, 22, of Berino and Hortencia Acahua, 28, of Mesilla Park alleged they weren't released for two months after first attempting to post bond, because of an "immigration hold" by the federal government.  They contend that the stay on their release should have expired after 48 hours." – Las Cruces Sun News, June 5, 2013.
